What is Dolby Digital EX?

This is an enhanced version of Dolby Digital. A second pair of 'rears' have been added, and these reside on the rear wall, while the original rears are place 'THX' style on the side walls. This new configuration enables the rear effects to be placed even more accurately. However this new format is only really suited to large rooms, as most people have problems blending in five speakers let alone seven!
